Walking Home

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

I’ve been taking the same path to and from classes/work for at least the past two years.  Here are some of the things I see.

P7030004

This guy (Deinonychus sp.) hangs in the stairwell in the building that my lab is in.  Sort of comforting to have him as a protector.

P7030005

Leaving the building, you can see the tower that contains most of the biology faculty and their labs.  It’s one of the tallest buildings around.

P7030006 I want one of these.

P7030007

One of the more scenic streets to walk down.  One block over and it’s mostly concrete and asphalt, and a killer wind tunnel in winter.

P7030008 This bridge has been here for quite some time, ever since construction began on the road.  Construction has long since stopped, but the “temporary” bridge pathway is staying.

P7030011 P7030015

This building houses the main concert hall as well as the main dining hall for the university.  (Front and back views here)

P7030013 There’s a peek inside.

P7030014 This library holds a copy of the Gutenberg. We’re that awesome.   I worked inside there for a summer.  I guess that makes me cool by osmosis.

P7030018

Another library.  I also worked inside here for about a year.  I was a library expert for a while.

P7030019 I think I’ve crossed this intersection every day for the past four years.

P7030020 Here’s our famous belfry.

P7030023

The Home Stretch.  In previous years, I would be home by now, living in the dorm.  Last summer I moved into my own apartment and haven’t looked back.

P7030024

Finally, Home Sweet Home.

There you have it.  My sometimes long, sometimes not long enough walk home.
